It seems like Google is trying to one-up OpenAI by dropping a teaser for its new AI tools just minutes before the big reveal of GPT-4o.

Google recently posted a demo video of its own AI voice assistant and image recognition tool on X about 30 minutes before OpenAI’s livestream, which it held the day before Google’s I/O Conference.

The timing of this post couldn’t have been more obvious. This post pretty much signifies the fierce competition between the tech giants who are racing to launch their AI with competing features.

GPT-4o is the latest version of OpenAI’s chatbot, which can respond to audio prompts almost instantly like a human, translate languages in real-time, and even assist learners as a tutor. Some people think of OpenAI’s decision to announce the GPT-4o before Google’s I/O conference as a declaration of war.

But Google’s response seemed to be a shot back to OpenAI holding its event a day early form the I/O conference.
