On 15 October 2024, Google updated the “October Pixel Drop” which includes more AI features and a Theft Protection tool to protect your device in case of theft, or snatching.

Google said in its latest blog post:

“We’re always working to make your Pixel phones even better with regular software updates that are packed with new features and improvements. We’re now calling these updates “Pixel Drops,” and they’ll include updates across your Pixel devices on an ongoing basis.”

“Today’s Pixel Drop brings AI-powered helpfulness expansions, camera improvements, new safety features and more to Pixel phones, tablets and watches. In addition to the features below, Android 15 starts rolling out today.”

Google introduced a Theft protection tool that is globally available in Android 10 and now in Android 15 (not for pixels only). This new feature uses Google AI and the phone’s motion sensors to detect if someone snatches your phone and tries to run away. In this case, Theft Detection Lock is enabled to lock your device screen. Alongside this, Google’s newly released Identity Check feature biometric authentication is mandatory to change PIN and disable the Theft Detection Lock.

On the other hand, you can also use a remote lock to quickly lock your phone by accessing from any device with your personal mobile number and a quick security challenge. This gives you enough time to recover your accounts and information.

Google also introduced separate spaces for personal or private apps in Android 15 Pixel. Hence, your private space is secured with a separate PIN. It provides more flexibility while using Android 15 Pixel devices.
