I’ve been in the AI realm for quite a while. And I’m just amazed at all the progress we’ve made all these years. But did you know there is this law, and everything that we see in the present is just its legacy? You heard it right, it’s called Moore’s Law.
According to ResearchGate, “Moore’s Law is a concept that notes the doubling of the number of transistors on a microchip around every two years, resulting in exponential advancement in computing power and diminishing costs.”
Well, to learn to a greater extent about it, I’m writing this article, where I’ll discuss the enduring legacy of Moore’s law in the AI age. You should learn about it, as it is an interesting topic.
We’ve indeed slowed down a bit, but it is also considered quite huge to change technology. But what have been our biggest changes according to Moore’s law in the AI age? Well, some of them are mentioned below:
It was considered a luxury back in the day and was out of reach of many people. But at present everyone can easily get one. But how? This is because of the Moore’s law, expensive gadgets that are necessary are available for everything.
The cost is less, making it affordable for everyone. This age is never going to end it will only be upgraded and with time it will easily be accessible to a wider audience.
Our lives are pretty much empty without it, as it has become a major part of course lifestyles. It has changed how we communicate and connect to the rest of the world.
You have a whole PC in your palm that is capable of doing most of your tasks. It started with keypads, and now they are folding. What’s next?
Thanks to Moore’s law now we easily get realistic games and technologies like VR which makes us feel as if we are living in the app. There are infinite possibilities and software. You can choose among several genres or franchises.
Not only that, at present there are online games that offer you the chance to make real money, and you also get benefits like no deposit bonuses. Such games are quite addictive, so play responsibly, as they can put you at financial risk.
AI has started to take over the world and that is too positive, everyone is adapting to it, and it is making things easier for us. If someone had told me that we would have such technology in the future, I might’ve not believed them.
But here we are and Moore’s law is more relevant with the advent of AI. AI becomes overmuch resilient when it meets with stronger computer power, it even starts learning things on its own without any input. But what else did we get? Read below:
Like I said earlier now machines can learn new things on their own without any manual programming or anything. This is only possible because it can analyze and process huge sums of data at once.
It’s safe to say that in the future we’ll see something that we’ve never seen before. Maybe as the processing power is increasing, machine learning will be able to learn and do bigger and more complicated databases. It is not just a possibility, it is certain.
Another amazing feature that AI is offering is that at present it can understand human language, not only that it can manipulate and process it as well. It’s called Natural Language Processing (NLP).
Software like ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and more are specially created to understand such language. You can ask it for anything and get an instant response, it could just be anything.
Computers are no less than humans any longer, they can “see” now they have visions that can interpret images and videos. Moore’s law has made computers smarter, faster, and powerful.
There will be a time when creating a more complex algorithm will be a piece of cake, and it would only be possible because AI is still in its early stage, let it advance and see what it can do.
Artificial intelligence has also become the major reason for increased revenue. Take a look at the graph below.

Yes, it’s YouTube that Moore’s law has taken the technology to the next level, but there are some limitations and one of them is physical. This shows that we need a better approach, and so far we have:
It takes brick after brick to create a building and just like that engineers have been stacking 3D chips by stacking transistors on top of each other. It increases density, improves performance, and lowers power consumption.
They are best for creating small devices without compromising with anything. 3D chip is considered to be revolutionary, as we have been using 2D chips for quite a long time.
Now as we are moving forward we are looking for more reliable materials that can be used for different productions. For example, scientists are trying to utilize graphene and carbon nanotubes so that they can manufacture faster but smaller electronics.
These materials are known for better mechanical strength and connectivity, they also hold the power to change the architecture of the chips, making them performance-orientated and efficient.
You might know that quantum mechanics comes under physics. But how is it getting incorporated with computers? At the moment, PC devices have been using language consisting of 0s and 1s.
But now it will use quantum bits or qubits. Thanks to it, we’ll be able to even solve those problems easily that would take a regular computer millions of years.
FUN FACT
A robot named Sophia is the first ever humanoid robot to be given human citizenship. She is now a native of Saudi Arabia
Computers have always been considered the smartest devices, and now it’s gotten more powerful since AI merged with it. Not only that, but most of our devices are following the same route.
But have you thought that AI might completely reduce human input which would result in people losing their jobs, privacy is also a major concern, and it might turn out to be biased which will result in discrimination.
Technology is advancing, and it is helping us a lot, but we are getting a bit too dependent on it. AI is dangerous, never forget that. Geoffrey Hinton also known as the father of artificial intelligence did say that he fears that one day it will wipe out humanity.
This is why we should be careful and handle this technology accordingly.
