When Meta’s Instagram policy about AI training from people’s data was announced, it met with mostly negative responses, including one by Kristen Bell. In a June Instagram post, she wrote that she doesn’t want her images and posts to be used for AI training. But now she is one of the AI chatbot’s official voices.
Take a look at her June comment:
This came as a surprise for many of Kristen Bell’s fans who are still trying to understand how AI is being used by Mark Zuckerberg’s company. While Meta has become infamous for neglecting customers’ privacy, it is well-known that the tech giant collaborates with high-profile actors to lend their voices for its AI chatbot.
It is noteworthy that in June Meta updated its terms of service, it was to allow the company to use customer’s online posts and tracking to train its Llama 3 AI model. However, it also gave users an option to deny any such use by following a series of steps in the settings of the Instagram app.
While fans are unsure if they would applaud Kristen Bell’s new collaboration with Meta, the use of AI grows, with every tech industry integrating it into their processes. Targeting one company or an actor is not the goal, but questions regarding data privacy should not be neglected.
