Google has unveiled the Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2 update for Pixel devices with the testers being able to download it since the 16th of December; this announcement was made through a Reddit post on the official Android Beta Program subreddit which highlights a range of bug fixes and enhancements. However, the real excitement lies in the new features that were not included in the official announcement.
One of the outstanding surprises in Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2 is a fully operational Linux Terminal app and initially, it was discovered in the previous Beta 1 release. It was plagued by bugs that caused crashes when the users attempted to load a virtual machine.
With the latest update, the application is now functioning smoothly; testers have also reported the ability to download, configure as well as run Linex instances using the Android Virtualization Framework which marks a major advancement for those who are eager to explore Linux directly on their Android devices.
Android expert Mishaal Rahman took on X and confirmed that the Linux Terminal app is performing as expected and the testers have also echoed this sentiment by sharing their successful experiences with the application after upgrading to Beta 2.
But that is not all, the notification cooldowns are a feature which many anticipated for Android 16 are now operational in Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2. This addition also allows users to manage notifications effectively helping to minimize distractions.
The Android 15 QPR2 Beta 2 update is accessible for a wide range of Pixel devices which also includes the Pixel 6, Pixel 7, Pixel 8 and Pixel 9 series together with the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.
Additional fixes in this update also consist of enhancements to Bluetooth stability which is particularly for LE Audio and hearing aid compatibility along with resolution for the previously malfunctioning.
