Apple is buying a widely popular editing app, Pixelmator which will be available on Mac and iOS. This deal gives Apple the most satisfying editing app after a decade.
Pixelmator announced through a blog post, “Pixelmator has signed an agreement to be acquired by Apple, subject to regulatory approval. There will be no material changes to the Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps at this time. Stay tuned for exciting updates to come.”
Since 2017 Pixelmator Pro has been a photo, video, and graphic editor app for macOS developed by the Pixelmator team. It is the best and cheapest alternative to Adobe Photoshop for many users. The app is available for a one-time payment of $49.99 without any subscription fee.
Pixelmator also stated in a blog post, “As we step into this exciting new chapter, we can’t wait to share what’s next.” Previously, Apple acquired the startup weather app “Dark Sky” in 2020 in the same way. The company shut down the app in 2022 and transformed it into its first-party weather app.
However, it is expected that Apple will do the same with Pixelmator tech. The fans of the Pixelmator app might be nervous or confused about Apple’s next move.
Lately, Apple introduced Apple Intelligence with writing tools, Clean Up tool, Image Playground, and Image Wand tools to edit photos and videos with AI. Pixelmator Pro is highly recommended as the best photo editing app for MacOS and iOS.
Additionally, the Pixelmator team exclaimed that they could join Apple to reach a wider audience and showcase their creative skills around the lives of people.
