Apple currently focuses on smart home accessories. It is revealed that Apple is prepping to launch an AI-generative smart home wall hub.
According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman’s report, Apple is planning to announce a smart display hub as a “Command Center” for the home. The device, code-named J490, is integrated with Apple Intelligence and redesigned Siri. It will be introduced as early as March 2025.
In addition to the details, the Apple smart home hub is an approximately 6-inch tablet similar to the iPad and mounts on a wall. It allows video calls and controls smart home appliances like doorbells, lights, etc.
Moreover, the product uses voice to control things and features security alerts. A smart home hub supposedly runs on a new operating system and an upcoming system “App Intents” that lets AI control applications. It has built-in sensors to detect how close the person would stand.
Along with this, Apple offers first-party apps like Apple Safari, Apple Music, Notes, and Calendar. The company intends to compete with rivals Google and Amazon, which have similar products. Google has Nest Hub Max and Amazon has Echo Show and Echo Hub, which cost around $230 and $150.
Apple’s latest home product has a camera placed at the top of the display, a rechargeable battery, and internal speakers. It has a touch screen that looks “like a blend of the Apple Watch operating system and the iPhone’s recently launched StandBy mode.”
Furthermore, it displays camera footage of different places as they are connected to the smart home hub. Apple plans to launch this product at a reasonable price to increase its sales.
As per a report, the company is also working on a robotic arm that is connected to an iPad-like screen. Expectedly, this robotic arm moves around you and costs up to $1000.
