Steam has set a new record of 37 million players at a time with the help of the Black Myth: Wukong game. This record has created history in the gaming world.
As Steam tracking website SteamDB noted on Sunday, 25 August exactly 37,266,324 users were online to play Black Myth: Wukong game console at the same time.
The action game Black Myth: Wukong has surged the Sony’s PS5 sales within the release of few weeks. According to developer Game Science, the game console has sold 10 million copies in just three days. Moreover, the Black Myth: Wukong is based on ancient 16th-century “Chinese mythology” and the famous novel “Journey to the West”.
Additionally, the Black Myth: Wukong gaming set overtook Cyberpunk 2077 with 2,223,179 concurrent players. It is honored as the most-played single-player of all time on the Valve’s platform. As per reports, it has currently reached 2nd position after PubG: Battlegrounds on Steam.
Previously, in 2023 Steam reached 10 million users active in games and 32 million login accounts for the first time. Now, the success of Black Myth: Wukong has helped Steam to gain more users. This resulted in Steam having 37 million active users in August 2024.
Therefore, it is notable that Steam will break its record to reach 38 to 40 million players in the next few months. If Steam is popularly going like its current place it would leave behind its rival Epic Games within a few years.
