There is some good news for desktop users. OpenAi’s ChatGPT now has a desktop app, well almost. The app is still not available for Windows, Linux, or other OSs as of yet. Right now, only Mac users can access the app.

During its event on Monday, OpenAI CTO Mira Murati announced that they will soon be releasing the desktop app for ChatGPT for Mac, along with some other things like its UI getting a full redesign.

In the demo shown by OpenAI, users could open the ChatGPT desktop app in a small window alongside another program. And when asked, ChatGPT could answer what was on their screens by either text or audio.

OpenAI says users can ask ChatGPT a question by using the Option + Space keyboard shortcut, as well as take and discuss screenshots within the app. Both free and paid users will be able to access the new app, but it will only be available to ChatGPT Plus users starting today before a broader rollout in “the coming weeks.”

OpenAI is planning to launch a Windows version of the app “later this year.” ChatGPT is already available as an app on iOS and Android.
