Microsoft mentioned that by Monday evening, most Outlook and Teams services had been restored following a day filled with technical challenges. The company has also mentioned that full-service restoration would come on Tuesday. Downdetector has reported that at the highest point of the outage, there have been over 5,000 user-reported issues, though this figure does not entirely capture the magnitude of the problem.
Microsoft in a post on X, indicated that they have been able to restore the functionality for all the impacted services except Outlook on the web which still has some issues going on for some users.
Later on Monday afternoon, the company also reported some recovery progress after applying a fix to address the issue and there has been a significant decline in the number of outage reports on Downdetector. The tech corporation in the evening at 7:30 p.m. estimated that the issue would get fixed in a few hours.
The company in the afternoon also stated that the fix has reached t 98% of the affected environments, although the rise in the reports on Downdetector continued to rise. There can be a delay for updates to fully apply to the systems of the customers.
However, Microsoft later indicated that the restarts were progressing more slowly than it was expected as most of the affected users had not been provided with the solutions yet. By 2 p.m. the company also stated that there have been delays encountered by the users even after the recovery.
The outage has also affected a lot of office workers, however, some users from the U.S. on X have also expressed what happened over the brief pause ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. This year, tech outages have significantly affected users globally, however situation with Microsoft is not as extensive as others.
