Recent speculations show that the Threads is working on a new community feature that will seemingly allow users to group particular topics or interests. This is very similar to Subreddits and vaguely resembles X communities. Many social media platforms take inspiration from each other, and in this case, Meta seems to be doing something similar. The possible name currently for this community feature is ‘Loops’.
Developer Chris Messina was the one to have spotted this reference in the codes of the Threads during a recent app update. The code mentions things like the ability to join and leave a Loop community, and giving it a name and bio.
From the looks, it seems like Meta is trying to help users find much more relevant topics for discussions, which could further make it easier to uncover topic-based communities. However, since Threads doesn’t use traditional hashtags, it’s likely Loops will need a different tagging system. Maybe an algorithm detect your interests and show you more of what you like either way.
Also, an unidentified Instagram source confirmed that the feature is still in the earliest developmental phases and is not being tested yet.
Meta’s lips are sealed, and it’s still a mystery, how Threads app will look like with this feature. But some developers and leakers did manage to give insights how the feature will function. Anyway, more news will likely to come out in the near future, we just have to wait for the official announcement.
