Great news for small businesses and consumers, Microsoft has launched Office 2024 which is now available without a Microsoft 365 subscription. The standalone one-time purchase option has been made possible for the first time since 2021. With this Office version, users are not required to have any 365 subscriptions.

Microsoft has taken a great step to recognize the preferences of customers who appreciate a non-subscription way to access familiar office apps.

Now, Office 2024 includes the updated versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook for Windows and macOS operating systems. Microsoft claims improvements to the core apps, as well as accessibility and UI changes. Users can discover improved search features in Outlook that help them find exactly what they need—whether it’s emails, files, people, or events. Plus, enjoy faster performance in Excel, even while having several workbooks open at once.

Talking of improvements, another highlight of Office 2024 is the new default theme that uses Fluent Design principles to provide a familiar experience across all Office apps. It also includes support for the OpenDocument format (ODF) 1.4. A feature from Microsoft 365 has also been imported, document recovery, that auto-saves open documents before Word 2024 crashes unexpectedly and enables you to continue where you left off.

Office Home 2024 is priced at $149.99 and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote for use on one PC or Mac. On the other hand, Office Home & Business 2022 costs $249.99 and offers everything in Office Home 2024, along with Outlook and the rights for commercial use.

But one thing to make sure of while making the purchase is that these are locked-in versions, meaning users won’t get feature updates as the 365 versions do.

Starting this Tuesday, you can find two versions of Office 2024 available for purchase on Microsoft.com and at retailers around the globe.
