Since the debut of Pokémon TCG Pocket on 30th October, the game was able to generate total revenue of $2 million within its first 48 hours. The gaming app is a total hit, and this makes it the world’s third-largest mobile game launch of all time.
According to AppMagic (a marketing research firm), the estimates of the gaming app suggest that it’s been earning the Pokémon Company around $3m per day over its debut weekend, and has made over $12m in just four days.
Pokémon TCG Pocket is a game developed originally for iOS and Android devices by Creatures Inc., the original developers of the Pokémon TCG, and DeNA Co., Ltd. Since its launch, the players have rushed to unlock everything they offer. The majority of the revenue comes from the purchases linked to the in-game Premium Pass and Pack Hourglasses.
AppMagic also revealed the game’s revenue was generated 45% from Japan, meanwhile, 25% of the revenue is coming from the second-largest game market — the US. After that, it’s Hong Kong and Taiwan each on 4% and South Korea, New Zealand and France on 3% of the total spend.
A comprehensive overview was given by AppMagic according to platforms, with the iOS edition proving to be the most popular, accounting for $10.5 million out of the $12.1 million earned so far. Google Play accounts for just $1.6m to date.
There is still a challenging timeline for the game, as the company still hasn’t released the future updates yet. There’s a high probability that the game will be able to break more records and set up a new benchmark. Nonetheless, the ability of the Pokémon company to sustain this over the long run will be the bigger test.
