OneWeb Launch #20 mission, was a major milestone, representing not just a successful operation but also the end of OneWeb’s challenges in building its satellite internet constellation. The launch sent 20 satellites into orbit, bringing OneWeb’s total to 634—just shy of their initial goal of 648. This achievement highlights the progress the company has made in its quest to provide global internet coverage.
The significance of the mission was underscored by CEO Eva Berneke by stating, “This is the first OneWeb launch of the satellites since the merger,” mentioning the recent merger between the European telecom company and OneWeb’s prior ownership.
Both SpaceX and OneWeb’s efforts showcase the hard efforts of the private sector within the space industry. Over 98 Falcon 9 rockets have been launched so far this year, and the ambitious goal of creating the world’s largest leading satellite network is constantly escalating.
As SpaceX accomplished this launch, the future of the satellite communications appears brighter than ever and with the current record-breaking pace the stakeholders and enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the forthcoming missions.
