A US teenager, Michael Artiaga, is the first person to reach Tetris level 255, achieve the classic game’s “rebirth”, and restart level zero at slow speed.
According to BBC News, he took only 80 minutes to complete the complex game and beat all crashes after level 155. He played the Tetris NES version live as “dogplayingtetris” on his YouTube channel. In the history of Tetris, it is a record-breaking achievement with the highest score of 29,486,164.
Michael said on stream, “Oh my god, I’m so glad that game is over, bro”. He added, “I never want to play this game again, bro… I was starting to lose my mind.”
In his YouTube video, he wrote in his description, “I still cannot believe it… first ever to get Rebirth! I’m so happy about finally getting this after all of the attempts. Thanks to everyone for the support over the years.”
He continued, “It’s finally over.”
Besides this, Willis Gibson “Blue Scuti”, an Oklahoma teen reserved the title of the first person to reach level 157 in 38 minutes before the game crashed.
In addition to Michael’s achievements in Tetris, he won the two Classis Tetris World Championships in 2020 and 2021. He also set his name in the Guinness World Record as “Youngest Tetris World Champion” at the age of 13.
Tetris is a puzzle video game created in 1985 by Alexey Pajitnov, a Soviet engineer. It allows players to arrange falling different shapes composed of four blocks in a manner that completes one line and vanishes. If the given space is filled with blocks, players lose the game, and it’s over.
