Meta’s Instagram Threads which is a competitor to X is all set to introduce an enhanced search interface for the users as announced by the company on Monday. The application serves as a Meta-based alternative to Elon Musk’s X and is built upon the social graph of Instagram. It will implement a new method for the users to look for specific posts, the feature will allow users to filter their searches by user profiles and data ranges.
Although this enhancement does not match the comprehensive capabilities of the advanced search of X, it does simplify the process for Threads users to find a particular post. The advanced search feature on X allows users to refine queries by keywords, languages, exact phrases, hashtags, excluded words and much more.
The new feature of Threads aligns its search functionality more closely with that of Blueksy which also permits users to filter search using data range, user profiles and other advanced queries. However, it is worth noting that the Blueksy app has not yet fully displayed all filtering options within the user interface.
Before this update, the search functionality on Threads was quite basic which only allowed the users to look for posts using keywords but limiting the filtering options to the popular posts with the highest engagement or the latest posts which were posted recently.
As indicated by a recent post from the Threads account, the new search feature is expected to be out for users all across the world in the coming weeks. In light of the recent developments, Meta has been rapidly adding new features to address competition from the social networking startup Bluesky which became famous quickly as an alternative to X. To mitigate the impact of Bluesky, Threads released several new features such as a default feed, an improved algorithm, and an update in design allowing users to navigate between feeds
