Meta has started laying off employees from various departments including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Reality Labs. In a statement, a company person confirmed that Meta is making changes to relocate its team and ensure resources with a long-term strategic plan.

Furthermore, many Meta employees are posted on social media about their layoffs. This layoff includes Facebook recruiters, designers, and legal operators employees on Wednesday.

“I’m still trying to process this but I’m informed that my role at Meta has been impacted.” Jane Manchun Wong, a former Meta employee posted on Thread.

According to the statement shared by The Verge

Dave Arnold, company spokesperson, said, “Today, a few teams at Meta are making changes to ensure resources are aligned with their long-term strategic goals and location strategy. ”

He added, “This includes moving some teams to different locations, and moving some employees to different roles. In situations like this when a role is eliminated, we work hard to find other opportunities for impacted employees.”

In addition to the layoffs history of Meta, it first laid off 11,000 employees in 2022 (overoptimism growth during the Covid period). Then in 2023, the company laid off 10,000 more employees based on CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s “year of efficiency” program.

However, Meta also laid off two dozen staff members for using $25 meal credits in Los Angeles. Staff members are allowed to get the benefit of daily allowances including $20 for breakfast, $25 for lunch, and $25 for dinner, with meal credits issued in $25 increments.
